The screw piles for permafrost fully comply with current Russian State Standards and Construction Norms and Rules, as well as international requirements and norms. They are recommended for use in all regions of Russia and abroad. The steel screw pile for permafrost is a metal pipe with a crown-shaped tip with a blade.

Screw piles for permafrost are the optimal solution for establishing a robust and dependable foundation for a diverse range of buildings, including residential and non-residential structures, as well as enclosing, technical, utility, industrial, and production structures. This particular type of foundation possesses numerous advantages in comparison to other types, resulting in significant reductions in the expenditure of temporary and material resources and obviating the necessity for labor-intensive excavations. In some cases, the only feasible method for building a building is to use grounds.

The characteristics and varieties of permafrost soils are as follows:

For permafrost grounds, screw pile constructions consist of pipes equipped with cast or welded tips of specific configurations. The primary distinguishing characteristic of these products is the diminution of the blades' width in comparison to those designed for conventional operating conditions. This facilitates the uniform and highly effective distribution of soil during the screwing process, simultaneously compacting the soil layers and delivering a substantial load-bearing capacity.

This is also due to the specific operating conditions, and the tip is produced not in a conical design, but with sharpened ends.

Screw piles for permafrost grounds are classified according to their functional purpose into the following modifications:

  • Constructions that are specifically designed for the periodic thawing of soils. These blades are of a greater width and can be manufactured in a variety of sizes and diameters, contingent upon the anticipated load. Constructions are designed to be installed during the summer or when the ground is artificially thawed, without the need for pre-drilled holes being required.
  • These constructions are designed for permanent frozen grounds. An illed hole (leader) is required along the entire length and diameter of the pile shaft. This method of installation is more labor-intensive, technical complex, and requires additional specialized equipment. Regardless, in many cases, it is the only feasible method for creating a strong and secure foundation.

Screw pile foundation technology eliminates the negative impact on vertical force supports, which significantly contributes to the preservation of the initial soil structures where the screw pile is embedded. The recommended depth for the sinking of pile constructions is between 4 and 8 meters, below the potential thawing of permafrost. Consequently, the foundations are effectively protected from settling and tilting, even in the event of extensive soil thawing or exposure to external aggravating factors.

The advantages of piles for permafrost soils are as follows

The numerous advantages of screw piles for permafrost grounds have resulted in their extensive utilization in diverse human activities.

  • The absence of wet processes during the concrete work.
  • Increasing the ad-carrying capacity.
  • The resistance of the material to critical temperature conditions.
  • Strong resistance to pulling and compressive loads.
  • Complete minimization of vibrations during operation.
  • The reusability of piles entails the ease and prompt dismantling and installation.
  • There is no need for costly and time-consuming quarrying and earthmoving operations, thereby reducing the requirement for a substantial quantity of specialized equipment, personnel, and access roads.
  • The foundation construction and preparation for structure erection are performed quickly, without waiting for the foundation to reach the required load-bearing capacity.
  • The capability to install in restricted urban environments or in close proximity to other objects, utilize aerial, surface, and underground communications, and navigate intricate landscape conditions.

In the production of screw pile constructions for permafrost grounds, only high-quality materials such as alloyed steel and special metal alloys are used. The final products undergo a comprehensive processing and are coated with polymer protective compounds to guarantee a durable and flawless performance, despite being repeatedly disassembled and installed.
