Helical piles are a seamless tubular shaft whose profile allows it to be screwed into the ground by rotating it with simultaneous axial load. When the length of the shaft is insufficient to penetrate a dense soil layer, composite supports are used for installation. The shaft can be made up of several rods that are assembled using a coupling connection as the support is driven in. The shaft can be single-section or composite. This installation feature of pile foundation is advantageous as it enables the designer to make corrections to their calculations.
